Ryan grew up in Queens, N.Y., taking English riding lessons as well as guiding trail rides at a local western riding barn. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Equine Science and Management focusing on western riding, breaking and training colts, and breeding at SUNY Morrisville. She completed her final internship on a big breeding farm handling stallions, mares, foals, weanlings, and yearlings.
After college, she moved to the Ithaca area where she joined the Painted Bar Stables team teaching English and Western lessons to children and adults of all ages.
She took sebatial from our stables to teach therapeutic horseback riding lessons as well as horsemanship skills for troubled youth at The William George Agency for nearly 5 years.
Upon her return to the stables she has since established herself as a full-time lesson instructor and is an integral part in the horse training program. She teaches Horsemanship, Western and English riding lessons to kids and adults of all ages, specializing in small group and private lessons
Beyond teaching courses such as the Greenhorn Training Class where Ryan helps riders better understand how to build and preserve a horse’s foundational skills and training, Ryan also regularly helps to train outside horses visiting the Painted Bar Stables for training and development.
For the past 10 years training horses has been not only a job but a passion for Ryan. Specializing in constructing foundations for horses to build skills upon, Ryan has been influential in helping horses to move forward into fulfilling careers.
